About Our Work

Colorado Homegrown Tales began life as a light bulb that switched on above Debbie’s head, after directing a staged reading of a play by Melanie Tem and learning about the wealth of talented writers around us here in Colorado. The bulb has now grown into (to quote The Blues Brothers) a mission from God, to introduce a wider audience to the literary excellence of our fellow citizens. We hope you enjoy discovering them with us, and spreading the gospel of our local talent.

It’s like storytime for grown-ups, ranging from heartfelt drama to suspense, dark comedy to fantastic fiction, from exploring the past to imagining the future. Tickets are only $10 per show; please join us – pajamas not required!

Colorado Homegrown Tales is committed to exploring the work of local writers, through the medium of theatre. We present programs of selected short stories, organized around a theme or an author, read aloud by professional actors. You’ll discover stories that will delight and move you, written by talented and national award-winning authors from our own backyard!
